Template

  • Easy templating is enabled. You can clone any document and use it as a template. See Templates.

PDF

  • Print fix: Tables print again with wrapped text.

  • The PDF print contains an URL in its title and header. This allows you to navigate from the PDF to the NWM document.

Feedback Form

  • When scrolling away from a feedback form, any unsubmitted comments are kept.

  • The status of a feedback form is updated automatically:

    • When the moderator locks/unlocks a feedback form, each delegate’s feedback form is automatically locked/unlocked. Any unsubmitted comment is kept.

Version History

  • The version tab of the NWM editor is updated automatically:

    • When the moderator creates a new document version, this new version is added automatically to the list of available versions of each delegate’s version tab. See Version History.

Easy adding of images into your NWM document

  • You can now copy&paste images from an external document. See Pasting Images.

  • You can now drag&drop an image file from your file explorer into your NWM document. See Drag&Drop Images.

Moving tables and figures inside of your document in an easy manner

  • You can now copy or cut a table, figure, feedback form, formula etc. and paste it at another location of your NWM document. See Copy & Paste inside NWM.

Fast Fingers

  • You can insert Table, Figure, Feedback form etc. by using the slash (/) command. See Slash command.

  • ‘Pasting of Hyperlinks’ is enabled. You can now paste a link in the NWM document. The target location opens in a new tab when clicking on the link.

  • The context SA3LI has been added. You can now create documents for the SA3LI committee.

  • Tool tips are correctly displayed on a page.

  • Dynamic Refresh of Notifications:

    • With a feedback form opened, new comments are automatically appended and displayed in yellow.

    • The highlighting and the notification counter are removed when the feedback form is collapsed.

    • With a document opened, when a new version of the document becomes available, then the status of the current version is automatically changed to ‘Revised’.

  • NWM supported 6 different list icons (one dedicated icon for each indentation level). Some browsers could not correctly display all the icons. We have selected a subset of three icons that comply with Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Safari.

  • A backdrop is shown when clicking on the Save button and the saving process takes longer (due to the network connection). The backdrop indicates that the document cannot be modified while saving is in progress.

  • The ‘Sort by Filter’ shows by default ‘Modified - (Newest)’ instead of ‘Title (Ascending)’.

  • Filtering search results allows you to create a list of documents relevant to a specific meeting. You may now save the search result as a so-called ‘View’ for future use, see Save search results.

It is possible to repair a document yourself when it contains corrupted paragraphs. How to do this is described in Repairing your document.

  • The search functionality of the NWM editor was delivered in the previous release. This release includes a slight visual enhancements:

    • The search results are grouped by document clause and indented to allow for a more structured display.

Table features

  • It is now possible to left, right, center align text within table cells. This applies as well for selected cells.

  • The table menu contains a new feature, which is to clone existing table rows or table columns.

  • With unsaved changes, when clicking on an action like ‘Promote to new version’, the save modal appears and allows the user to take actions such as cancel, save or discard changes. These actions have been described clearer.

  • The Show Changes/Diff feature is enabled for text. This allows you to highlight the changes between a variant and its baseline, see Show Changes/Diff.

    • Changes are shown in real-time as you type

  • A Formula editor has been added. It is possible to insert a formula after a current paragraph, see Formula.

  • The exported PDF file contains the version number in the file name.

  • Feedback form updates:

    • Only the owner of a document can lock/unlock the feedback form.

    • New button on the feedback form to refresh it.

    • Warning to the user if he wants to submit a comment on a locked feedback form.

    • The term ‘closed’ has been renamed to ‘locked’.

  • Supported formats for images: png, jpg and jpeg.

  • When a too large image is chosen in the figure chunk, then an error text is displayed.

  • If something went wrong with a figure, then an error image is shown.

    • ‘Ctrl+S’ to save the document;

  • Copy&paste from WORD works for text and headings.

  • The save-changes modal used to pop-up when a user left the document which contained a table or a figure. This is fixed now.

  • When exporting a PDF of a document containing a Feedback Form, the order and numbering of the comments did sometimes not match that of the document in the browser. This is fixed now.

  • Adding a new paragraph inside a table cell caused a fail. This is fixed now.

  • Feedback Form/Table/Figure title of a shared document could be modified. This was fixed to make all elements non-editable.

Known Issues

  • In order to see newly submitted opinions in the feedback form, please refresh the page.

  • When inserting a figure, keep the image size below 1MB. Using images above this size can cause displaying issues.

  • When a user opens a document which is private to somebody else, then he gets a blank screen. This is correct, because a user shall not see a private document. To make this clearer, instead of a blank page, an error message will be provided to the user.

  • Tool tips might stay visible (frozen) on a page. Press F5 to refresh the page and the tool tip will no longer show.

  • Unmerging merged cells in a table produces an error: the newly unmerged cells cannot be edited. The only workaround is to delete the entire row or column containing these cells and re-enter the data.

  • The form in which delegates can submit their opinion has been named to ‘Feedback Form’ The icon in the toolbar stays the same; mouse-over the icon shows the tooltip as ‘Feedback Form’. And the table is called ‘Feedback Form’.

  • The caption field from the ‘Insert Table’ modal is removed. The caption text can be entered now once the table is created. This is now the common approach for all elements that need a caption field, such as figures, code chunks, bitfields etc.

  • The modal ‘Create New Variant’ did not close correctly when the user clicked outside the modal. This is fixed.

  • It was possible to submit an empty opinion field in the ‘Feedback Form’. This is fixed now.

  • The warning on ‘double spaces’ in text is deactivated until the full List feature will be available. The full List feature will allow to indent bullet points. For now this is achieved by entering ‘space’.

  • Unmerging merged cells in a table produces an error: the newly unmerged cells cannot be edited. The only workaround is to delete the entire row or column containing these cells and re-enter the data.

New or Improved Features

This release supports a discussion summary document workflow for 3GPP. One or more feedback forms are added to a discussion summary document to collect opinions on the content of the document. The moderator may lock these forms or update the document, but delegates may only provide comments in the form.

All basic editing functionality is supported:

  • Basic character styling

  • Headings

  • Tables

  • Figures & Figure notes

Advanced editing functionality is supported:

  • Feedback forms

  • In-document discussion threads

  • Document drafting workflow and showing of changes between variants and baseline

Limitations

The following functionality is deactivated:

  • Abbreviations

  • Definitions

  • Locked clause numbering (3GPP-style, for documents under change control)

  • Notes in a document

  • Code blocks in a document

  • Ordered/unordered lists

  • Version History

  • Conflict detection and resolution

The following functionality is not yet implemented:

  • Mobile usage (small screen size)

  • Search/Replace inside a document

  • Formulas

  • Examples

  • Annexes

  • Hyperlinks

  • Text highlighting

  • Editing document meta-data

  • User-configurable workflows

  • Requirements management

  • Sharing with groups: NWM doesn’t know groups or committees so all documents are shared with all users by default.

    Use meaningful document names and add the documents you use regularly to your workspace in order work around this.

  • Selections are not possible

    • Multiple paragraphs, headings, figures or tables cannot be selected

Known Issues

  • Unmerging merged cells in a table produces an error: the newly unmerged cells cannot be edited. The only workaround is to delete the entire row or column containing these cells and re-enter the data.

  • The table title below the table row/column selector is not retained, when clicking Add Table. The workaround is to enter the table title once the table is created.

  • The save popup appears when the user leaves the page and there are unsaved changes. The save popup appears sometimes, even though there are no changes (.e.g when you post an opinion in a feedback form). Simply click on OK and the save modal disappears.

  • When the save popup appears, nothing will happen when you click on Cancel, i.e. you must save.
